Applies to: All Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff members required by Rice University to attend
court proceedings as witnesses are compensated at their regular
rate of pay for hours spent in court. For technical or support
staff (nonexempt staff), these hours are considered "hours worked"
for the purpose of calculating overtime.
Staff members appearing in Court for non-University related
matters are not compensated for lost time. They may, however, draw
upon accumulated benefit time. These hours are not considered
"hours worked" for the purpose of calculating overtime.
